legal views from Christie Solicitors

Some businesses need a legal 'health check'

Recently our principal Geoff Christie has commented how he is "constantly amazed at just how many businesses expose themselves to unnecessary risks because they do not use comprehensive terms and conditions of trading or present them to customers at the right stage in a transaction". Equally concerning are "the number of small companies in which the directors and shareholders have no proper agreements in place to deal with death, retirement and the like". "Properly constituted shareholder or partnership agreements are a must for any well regulated business that wants to avoid difficulties which are otherwise bound to arise at some stage."
